You know those memes where someone is saying they are five minutes away, when in reality they are sitting on their bed, wrapped in a towel with wet hair, scrolling on their phone? Yeah. That person is me.
I am notorious for not giving myself enough time to get ready. I lounge around without a care in the world, and then find myself rushing to finish & leaving 15 minutes later than I was supposed to. It’s one of the things my husband really loves about me. That was sarcasm, in case you missed it.
And while I do love taking my time getting ready, it’s definitely not a luxury that I can afford on a daily basis. Now that I’m a mom, it’s not just me that I have to worry about. I’ve got to get Rowan fed, dressed, and his diaper bag packed for any and every potential mishap. My own routine often takes a back seat, but I’ve learned that using minimal products is how I can look polished as quickly as possible. For me, that looks a little something like this…
Step One: Foundation
I wish I had the kind of skin where I could skip this step, but that is rarely in the cards for me. A tinted moisturizer would also be a great product to use when you are pressed for time. Right now, I’ve been loving the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-In-1 Foundation. The coverage is amazing, and it’s got SPF and a primer built into it. One less step to do, and it’s sure you last you all day long.
Step Two: Concealer
Nothing brightens up my face quite like a good concealer. I apply some under my eyes, blend it with a damp beauty blender, and set it with some translucent powder. Tarte Shape Tape has been a long time favorite of mine. I recommend it to everyone and have gotten a few friends hooked on it too. It goes on so silky smooth, and never dries me out. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!
Step Three: Bronzer + Blush
I have a very pale complexion, so adding color to my face always makes a world of difference. All-in-one products like this Blush/Bronzer Duo from NARS gives you everything you need for a bronzed glow with a flush of color. This particular one has shades that are universally flattering, and is lightweight on your skin. Products like this are also great for traveling – less to pack!
Step Four: Mascara
If you’ve only got time for one step, let it be this one. Mascara is one of those products that can transform your whole face. You instantly look more awake & put together. I typically change up my mascara, but I’ve been hooked on Maybelline’s Lash Sensational for quite some time. It makes my lashes look long and full, which is exactly what I crave in a mascara. I’m also a fan of this one by Too Faced.
Step Five: Brows
Listen, I know what you are thinking. “You’ve only got 10 minutes to get ready and you’re going to do your eyebrows?!” But I’m not talking about a fully carved out and meticulously done look. Just a few simple swipes of an easy to use product will frame your face & make a world of difference. I love Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. It’s easy to blend, never smudges, and looks natural. Can’t ask for more than that.
Step Six: Lips
The final and optional step! This part can be anything you want it to be – as simple as a swipe of chapstick or a big statement with bold color. Most days I go with a natural, nude lipstick for a touch of color and some moisture. Don’t be afraid to have a little fun with it 🙂
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
