To be honest, I’m a huge fan of a nude lip all year long. It’s classic yet cool, and easily works for both day & night looks. But there’s just something so effortless about it that makes a nude lip go hand-in-hand with those long summer days.
I recently picked up some Anastasia Beverly Hills matte lipsticks that take that classic nude look and give it a little summertime twist.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Matte Lipsticks deliver full-pigment color payoff, with a smooth matte finish. Matte finishes are so great for this time of year. With temperatures on the rise, the last thing you want is a sticky or shiny finish that you sweat off in a matter of minutes. I’ve tried tons of matte formulas from a lot of different brands. Some of them can make your lips so dried out, but these will leave them feeling smooth & comfortable.
Matte lipsticks are also great due to their long-lasting formula. You can throw them on and not have to worry about reapplying, which again is perfect for the all the events that summer brings.
The colors in this particular lipstick set are more than just your basic nudes. Here’s a rundown of each shade, swatched from left to right:
- Coconut – probably my favorite out of the whole bunch. It’s a matte, toasted rose, and I love this type of mauve-y shade. I think it’s pretty universal, and can be worn for any occasion. It goes on your lips a little less intense than the swatch shown above, but can definitely be built up to a deeper hue.
- Orange Blossom – a matte, soft peach with a slightly iridescent finish. Most matte lip products have a very flat finish, so I love that there are options in this set that give the benefits of matte with a little fun twist.
- Lychee – blush mauve with a micro-sparkle reflect. I’ve never tried a lipstick with micro-sparkle before, and I was so pleasantly surprised by this one. Since the sparkle is so fine, it almost gives off a metallic look. Because of that, I’ll be sticking to night-time looks withthis particular shade.
- Guava – light coral with shimmery reflect. Again, this one has a similar finish to Lychee with the micro-sparkles. Despite it being a lighter shade, I actually found this one more edgy. It gives your lips that same metallic sheen, and leaves you with a stunning rose-gold hue. It would look so good with a bronzed, dewy look for a summer night out.
And to top it off, these lipsticks are all vegan & cruelty free – which is always a plus for me when it comes to picking out my products. If you are interested in this particular set, you can check it out here.
